Thanksgiving Food Drive - November 20 - 23, 2008
For the past 37 years, the Council has dedicated its time to a Thanks giving Food Drive to provide food baskets to needy families earning less than $12,000 per year. Last year the Council served over 1000 families, impacting over 2,800 individuals, mostly children.
Volunteers are needed to help sort, box, and distribute food boxes for this event. Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older.
In 2007, 194 individuals volunteered, completing 882 hours of volunteer time.
Housing for the Elderly
The Council encourages volunteers to visit our community rooms located inside each of our six housing units.
Volunteers are needed to help with work shops, cook, play board games, arts and crafts, sewing, massage therapy or music with our elderly residents.
Guadalupe Head Start, Summer Program
If you love interacting with children you may want to volunteer at one of our Head Start sites. This will give volunteers an opportunity to interact with young children in a bilingual setting. Volunteers may read books or assist teachers in the classroom.
"El Dia de los Ninos" / "Children's Day"
April of 2009
Volunteers are needed to help set up, sell food, greet the families, help with games, and clean up.
